We are back to the ONEFA (National Organization of College Football) season here in Mexico City, in which I have to do the review on each week's games based on the comments of Aarón Soriano, sportscaster for ESPN.

This is a new challenge! Only this time we are not publishing on the "ESTO" news paper, this time is for the "TERRA" (news, sports & entertainment) official web page itself, and this time we are doing it in color which gives it a whole more interest to this weekly strip. I'm doing the art (pencil & inks) each Sunday or Monday to be ready for coloring by Mariana Moreno and lettering by Mauricio Cosío, all of this during for 12 weeks, while the football season lasted (great, huh?!). A difficult part is to adapt to the new format that "TERRA" requires for their home page, never the less this time I'm adding it more power to the scenes even tough the time for production it's very short.

I steel remember that on the end of the season of the second year (2006) we where invited to attend to the ONEFA awards ceremony, which were celebrated, amazingly enough, on the Queen Elizabeth School, my old school in which I hadn't been for 20 years. There we met all of the football stars that I drew for the comic strip and even got the pleasure to meet Mauricio López Tyson player for the NFL Centurions in Köln Germany, curiously enough, I was born there as well (ha, funny right?).

Estamos de regreso en la ONEFA (Organización Nacional Estudiantil de Futbol Americano), para el cual ilustro el resumen de los comentarios de Aarón Soriano, comentarista deportivo para ESPN.

Este esun nuevo reto, sólo que esta vez no estamos publicando en el periódico "ESTO", esta vez publicamos directamente para la página oficial de "TERRA" (noticias deportes y entretenimiento) y esta vez la realizamos en color, lo cual le da mucho mayor interes a la tira semanal. Hago el arte (lápiz y tinta) cada Domingo o Lunes para estar lista para el coloreado por parte de Mariana Moreno y la letra de Mauricio Cosío, todo esto durante 12 semanas, que es lo que dura la temporada de fútbol universitario (estaba bueno ¿no?). La parte difícil es diseñar la página pensando en las especificaciones que "TERRA" necesita para su página web, aun así le estoy dando más fuerza y expectacularidad a todas las jugadas a pesar del corto tiempo de producción que tenemos.

Todavía recuerdo que al final de la temporada del el segundo año de realización de la tira (2006) fuimos invitados a la ceremonia de premiación de la ONEFA, la cual, para mi sorpresa, fueron celebrados en el Queen Elizabeth School, mi antigüa escuela primaria y que tenía más de 20 años de no visitar. Ahí conocimos a todas las estrellas de fútbol que dibujé para la tira e incluso tuve el honor de conocer a Mauricio López Tyson, jugador de la NFL para los Centuriones de Colonia, Alemania, lugar donde curiosamente nací (¡que buenas coincidencias, ¿no?!).

"GREEN" SKETCHES 1

These are some sketches and studies in different techniques of characters of "Green" a project we are developing in the ¡Ka-Boom! Estudio created by Mauricio Cosio and Drawn by me, a awesome comic full of magic, ecology and fun telling the stories of Kevin Green a young and unexperienced guy who is about to learn that true magic comes from within.

Estos son algunos sketches y estudios en diferentes técnicas de algunos personajes de "Green" un proyecto que se está desarrollando dentro de ¡Ka-Boom! Estudio el cual es creación de Mauricio Cosio y dibujado por mi, una increíble cómic lleno de magia, ecología y diversión que cuenta la historia de Kevin Green un joven e inexperto chico que está a punto de descubrir que la verdadera magia viene de el interior de uno mismo.

FAIRIES

I did this in my sketch book, I was making some investigation for the "Green" comic book project on fairies to design the Queen of fairies and so I ended up making all sorts them which, was very fun to do, I hope you all like them.

Hice estas hadas en mi cuaderno de bocetos, estaba realizando una investigación para el proyecto de cómic "Green" para desarrollar a la Reina de la hadas y termine inventando todo tipo de ellas, lo cual fue muy divertido para mi, espero sean del agrado de todos.

Hace algunos años hice un proyecto de dos págs. para el Estudio de una historia de Mauricio Cosio (esta es la pág. #2). El trabajo que realicé fue mucho del agrado de Mike Kunkel, animador y artista de comic creador de "Hero Bear and the Kid", por lo que hice un intercambio del arte original por uno de los suyos, que bien no?!

Well... The King. This is a study I did for Reader's Digest of Elvis. Dough it never really made it to be published I had a great time in the process of making the caricature, the hair, eyebrows chin where really fun.

Pues... El Rey. Este es un estudio que realizé para de Reader's Digest de Elvis. Aunque nunca logro ser publicado me pase un gran tiempo en el desarrollo de la caricatura, el cabello, las cejas y la barbilla le dieron un toque característoco y muy divertido.

LOS SERES MAGICOS DEL CONOCIMIENTO / KNOW-IT-ALL MAGIC BEINGS

I developed this sequence for the "Know-It-All Magic Beings" project, created by writer Susy Romero.

This Project is itself a legacy of knowledge which is focused basically as a didactic support for the different subjects given in grade schools and junior highs. A fun project to make the learning process easier for the young on different and important scholar matters to develop their personal growth.

Secuencia que desarrollé para el proyecto "Los Seres Mágicos del Conocimiento", creado por la escritora Susy Romero.

Este proyecto es en sí un legado del conocimiento y está enfocado básicamente como soporte didáctico de las materias impartidas en las escuelas primarias y secundarias. Un proyecto divertido para facilirar el aprendizaje de los jóvenes sobre distintos temas para su formación como personas.

CAPITAIN-WHO

I did this fella a while ago as an experiment just to have some fun, it was one of those times when you start some thing and it sort of evolves during the way, I really enjoyed the result. I used several tecniques on this one like: markers, color pencils and even Liquid Paper.

Hice a este sujeto ya hace tiempo cómo experimento para divertirme un rato, fue una de esas veces en las que cominzas algo y va evolucionando en el trayecto, de verdad disfruté el resultado. Utilizé varias técnicasen esta pieza cómo: plumones, prismacolor e incluso Liquid Paper.

BASKET-DAN

This is the toon-portrait I did of my best friend as a gift for him, he just loves basketball as much as me, we used to practice it every time we could since we where very young in school as we grew up... but I'm way better of a basketball player he he he. Enjoy it Dan!

Este es un retrato-caricatura que realicé cómo regalo para mi mejor amigo, a el encanta el basketball tanto como a mi, soliamos practicarlo cada oportunidad que teníamos desde muy pequeños en la escuela conforme ibamos creciendo... pero yo soy mejor basquetbolista, je je je. ¡Disfrútalo Dan!

UGLY-FACERS

This and the other Ugly-Facers were developed for a project for mobile-images, which you could buy as send to your best friends to mock on them for a while ha ha ha; at the end the client never made his mind up and gave up on the project. I believe it could've been great for the public to have some fun. To which one of these Ugly- Facers does you sister's boyfriend looks like?! LOL

Este y los otros "Cara-Feos" fueron desarrollados para un proyecto de imagenes para celular, las cuales podrías comprar para mandarselas a tus mejores amigos para burlarte de ellos un rato ja ja ja; al final el cliente nunca se decidió y se hechó para atras con el proyecto. Creo sinceramente que pudo haber sido muy bueno para que la gente se divirtiera un buen rato.

ROOF-TOP SKETCHES

A couple of sketches I did from the top of the roof of the Studio... Some times you just want to stop work for a while and what do you do?! You want to draw some more and move the hand around LOL! :)

Un par de sketches que hice desde el techo del Estudio... A veces uno sólo quiere dejar el trabajo a un lado por un tiempo ¡¿y que es lo que haces?! ¡Quieres dibujar un poco más mover la mano un rato ja ja ja! :)

This one I did a couple of years ago for some friends who have a Star Wars website. I had theliberty to create a sith character wich I really enjoy doing for this project scence I´m a fan.

Latelly I've seen a lot of dinosaurs all around, so I got this crazy idea, hope you all like it.

SHILBALAM

This is Shilbalam, one of Oscar González's characters from the comic book "Karmatrón y los Transformables", my favourite along with Jiva. I tried to emulate Oscar's style with a little bit of mine.

Este es Shilbalam, uno de los personales de Oscar González de el cómic "Karmatrón y los Transformables", mi personaje favorito junto con Jiva. Trate de imitar el estílo de Oscar con un toque del mío.

This one I did after beeing inspired by the T.V. series "Shogun", I thought i'd be cool to see a female samurai. Pencil, markers & gouache.

Realize esta ilustración después de haber sido inpirado por la serie de T.V. "shogun", creo que sería interesante ver una samurai mujer. Lápiz, plumones & gouache.

I hate bullfighting, so i did this one just for fun... The bull wins!

WASHING CLOTHES

This is a sketch I did just for fun, I really wanted to see what it would look like to use markers directly over pencil.

Un bobeto que hice sólo para divertime, realmente quería ver que apariencia tendría el usar plumones directamente sobre el lápiz.

PIXIE NUDE

I was onto drawing alot of pixies, so I tried to go a bit further with the pencil and see what happened. I kindda liked the result.

He estado dibujando bastantes hadas últimamente, así que decidí ir un poco más lejos para ver que salia del lápiz. Creo que me agradó el resultado.

HERO ZERO COMIC BOOK SEQUENCE

Way back in the year 2000 my mentors in the comic book art, Oscar González Loyo and his father Mr. Oscar González Guerrero, gave me my first sequence as a challenge for me to see if I was ready back then to solve a professional script due that I was beginning as a comic book artist and so I began the test and though it took a lot of time to render it because I'd never done it before they really loved the result, commenting that it really showed a personal style and that nobody ever had done that script in a cartoon way, which was a great honor and a surprise for me.

I hope you enjoy this old secuence as much as I did back then.

Hace ya tiempo, en el año 2000, mis maestros en el arte del cómic, Oscar González Loyo y su padre Don Oscar González Guerrero, me dieron mi primera secuencia a manera de reto para ver sí yo era capaz de resolver un guión profesional ya que estaban entrenandome para convertirme en un artista del cómic, así que empecé la prueba y aunque me tomó bastante en terminarlo, debido a que nunca había hecho algo así les gustó mucho el resultado, mencionando que realmente había demostrado un estilo personal y que nadie había hecho tal secuencia en caricatura, lo cual fue un gran honor y sorpresa para mi.

Espero que disfruten de esta secuencia tanto esto cómo yo lo disfruté en aquel entonces.
